Oct. 10, 2022

Coming up on Oct. 20 we'll be discussing Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann, and will pick up our new kit: Tulalip from My Heart,  by Harriette Dover. Dover, born in 1904, describes the hardships and experiences on the Tulalip reservation that developed her political consciousness and keen sense of justice.

We will meet at Claire and Murray's house, 3915 Cliffside Dr., 98225.

Sept. 6, 2022

Crisis over. We can all be on the same page now. We've had to trade The Book of Lost Friends and Tulalip From My Heart around, due to leftovers from the glitch. Being Heumann will have to be moved to 7/19/23, ditto, and At the Water's Edge has been deleted. The Four Winds isn't a kit, but the library has multiple copies of it, which each of us will need to check out individually for May.

ALL CHANGE!

Well, it's a heck of a ride, isn't it. We don't know when the book kit system will be restored. It's a nation-wide breakdown. Meantime Murray received notice of 5 kits that were on our list, but they all have the wrong dates. We'll just have to go with those 5 for now. The list that I actually reserved (see the list to the right) may or may not come back.

Please pick up your copy of The Book of Lost Friends in the workroom under the copier, and be sure to sign it out. Jenni Johnson said we can have it early because it's just sitting there at the library waiting for us.

Here is our 'temporary' list.

The Book of Lost Friends, Lisa Wingate (from Sept 1 to Oct 4)
Red Notice, Bill Browder (Oct 1 - Nov 3)
Greenwood, Michael Christie (Nov 1 - Dec 4)
Bad Blood, John Carreyrou (Dec 1 - Jan 2)
Tulalip From My Heart, Harriette Shelton Dover (Jan 18 - Feb 20)

Book Group Thursday, 5/20/21, 7 pm at Claire & Murray's

Hello All,

Almost everyone has replied and those replying have indicated they are fine with an outside book group meeting. This is exciting!

So weather permitting, we invite everyone to our back porch for book group discussion of The Yellow House at 7pm.

We are 3915 Cliffside Dr. I think everyone has been here before but we are very close to the airport (take airport exit if coming from I5) or Holly to Marine if not on the interstate. After turning on Cliffside, drive to the end of the T and turn left. We are the second house (it is blue) on the right. Call Murray (240) 344-6329 if you need more directions.

We will leave our driveway clear for two cars and two-three cars can  park in front of the house. If those are full you might need to turn around and find another place with street parking. We have a new big sun umbrella shading a lot of the porch but you might need a hat or sunglasses if it is very sunny.

If the weather looks bad, Murray will send a Zoom link (it will be the same one we have been using) Thursday afternoon. https://zoom.us/j/92535507254?pwd=WXdWV0szeWRESFJ6bHhCb2UzQk4zQT09

See you Thursday!

Claire and Murray
